18 Miles and counting
Submitted by kevin on Tue, 09/07/2004 - 21:19Now we know how much 18 miles can make a body hurt. And we have achieved another milestone in our training. In two weeks we will run our longest distance before the marathon: 22 miles. We're almost there :)

Lewis & Clark Marathon - Sept. 19, 2004
Submitted by kevin on Sun, 09/05/2004 - 13:16To prepare ourselves for the big day, both physically and mentally, we will be running in the Lewis & Clark Marathon in St. Charles, MO.
We will register for the 1/2 marathon and then run an additional 9 miles to meet our training goal of 22 miles for that weekend.
This is the last big run before we begin our taper for the Chicago Marathon.
If you are in the area, come on out and cheer us on!
Training Update - Labor Day Weekend
Submitted by kevin on Sun, 09/05/2004 - 13:07We have been training for the marathon since April. Building up slowly, adding a few miles each week to our 4 day a week running schedule.
The summer has come and gone quickly. I spent six weeks recovering from a leg injury and have struggled to get back on track. Danielle is now attending college at SBU and is doing most of her running there.
With only 5 weeks until the big event, our training is almost on schedule -- tomorrow we will run 18 miles.
Over the next two weeks we will extend that to 22 miles before beginning to taper to build energy for the big day.
Please say a prayer that we stay healthy and are ready on race day.

2004 Marathon for Marsha
Submitted by kevin on Mon, 08/09/2004 - 20:27My Mom, Marsha, never ran a marathon during her life, but her biggest challenge far outweighed the difficulty that 26.2 miles can present. She fought a year-long battle against a brain tumor that claimed her life in August 2000.
Watching my brother, Craig, cross the finish line in the first Marathon for Marsha has inspired me and my daughter, Danielle, to take up the challenge for this year. We’ve never run 26.2 miles either, but that’s changing on Sunday, October 10, 2004. We are joined by two friends, Makoto Jacobs and Paul Ford, and hopefully a few others to create Team ABTA for the 2004 Chicago Marathon.
